Many who follow us are aware that last fall we had some unplanned property damage on our farm. We awoke in the early morning to quite a devastating mess in our front drive. The local Sheriffs department was extra helpful in figuring out who had caused all the damage. Through a few acts of fate, and some answered prayer, the party responsible was found. And minus our Scarecrow, thankfully no one was hurt.

After several months of dealing with insurance companies, and patiently waiting for spring. The time has finally come to start rebuilding the fence.

In part 1 of our fence and farm gate repair Van and I worked to remove the old fence rails and take an assessment of the repairs needed.

Moving forward, we decided to extract the old posts that had been snapped off below the ground and immediately replace them with new posts, utilizing the original holes. We figured that by using the original post holes we could save massive amount of time and money.

One minor change that we decide on was the number of rails for the new fence. The original was a two rail style, and we thought that going with a three rail style would make it much more astatically pleasing and definitely increase it’s stability. This change will certainly come with some added cost, but as we started putting things back together we quickly determined that the new look was defiantly worth it.

Our focus currently is to get the west side repaired. The east side will have to wait for now, as we have a few design changes we are still discussing.
